Savings each month
PKR 20,000
- Needs: PKR 50,000 (50%)
- Wants: PKR 30,000 (30%)
- Savings each month: PKR 20,000 (20%)
- Savings over a year
- PKR 240,000
How it is calculated
Needs are 50 percent of your monthly income, wants are 30 percent and savings are 20 percent.
Needs = income x 50 / 100. Wants = income x 30 / 100. Savings = income - needs - wants.
Needs and wants are rounded to the paisa, and savings is what is left, so the three always add up to your income.
Savings over a year = savings x 12.
Assumptions
- 50% of your income goes to needs, 30% to wants and 20% to savings.
- The income is what you take home after tax.
- This is a rule of thumb to start from. Your own needs, such as rent or school fees, may take a bigger share.
