Amount to set aside each month
PKR 2,090.45
- Or one amount to put in today
- PKR 159,504.39
- What the goal will cost then
- PKR 431,785
- Still needed after what you have saved grows
- PKR 431,785
How it is calculated
What the goal will cost then = cost today x (1 + inflation)^years.
What you have saved grows by one twelfth of the yearly return each month. What is still needed is the cost then less that (never below 0).
The monthly amount is the one that grows to what is still needed, put in at the start of each month. The lump sum is what is still needed divided by (1 + yearly return / 12)^months.
Both are rounded UP to the paisa, so the goal is never short.
Assumptions
- Prices rise by 8% a year, the same every year.
- The return of 10% a year is added each month. Real returns go up and down.
- The monthly amount goes in at the start of every month.
- No fees, charges or tax are taken off.
